ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN REMEDIAL MASSAGE
COURSE DESIGN AND INTENT
The course is designed to train you in professional massage so you are in a position to gain employment in the National Health Service, occupational health departments of larger companies, sports organisations, Complimentary Health Clinics, health projects and /or build your own private practice.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
The course that was first taught 25 years ago was born out of our experience that touch has a powerful (and empowering) healing effect and an understanding that the practitioner must have a good knowledge of strokes and the functioning of the body-mind.
Over the years we have developed an approach that works on 4 levels:
-
The symptoms and problems as they present themselves on the surface
-
The immediate underlying causes connected to the presenting symptoms
-
The client’s ability to work with the presenting problems
-
The client’s ability to become present at a deeper level with self and symptoms
We perceive that personal presence is the key to balancing energy and re-aligning body structures. When approached this way, treatments dynamically educate the body and the person, building strength both physically, emotionally and mentally – which enables change to take place.
BALANCING THE PRACTICAL WITH SENSITIVITY
This approach is as practical as it is sensitive. It optimises your ability to build a practice based on competencies with:
· sports injuries & neuromuscular trauma
· stress release / well being treatments
OVERVIEW OF LEARNING OUTCOMES
MUSCULAR – SKELETAL THERAPY
Two thirds of the 10 weekends will be dedicated to focusing on understanding and treating muscular – skeletal problems. Through the study of the ‘biological connection loop’ (neural > intra muscular > bone > circulation) you will learn release and rehabilitation techniques that involve strokes, points, ointments, wraps and movement.
What you learn will apply to sports injuries as well as chronic muscular and joint tension and mis-alignment. You will also be introduced to focussing and breath work that contributes to the rehabilitation of muscular injury
STRESS/ WELLBEING THERAPY
Students learn how to use strokes to work at the different levels that clients manifest or hold stress: physical, emotional, mental. The use of strokes is coupled with a client management process that enables rapport of verbal and non-verbal communication to take place that acts as:
-
a stress release
-
a well being alignment
We further teach a series of connecting exercises that enhances personal well being and energy alignment. You will also learn our unique Focussed Relaxation technique that uses subliminal re-aligning. Clients relax, but also learn to process stress and anxiety.
